Mindfulness Practice in the Horizontal Posture
Horizontal Posture on the Back or on the Side
Move slowly and mindfully into the horizontal posture.
Use your bed, yoga mat or mattress on the floor.
Use a thin pillow.
Lie long rather than curled.
The single line of the body contributes to the energy flowing freely.
Stay rather still through relaxation rather than will power.
Relax into the posture, even when the transition is made from comfortable to uncomfortable.
Experience the whole body resting into the mattress or mat.
Experience the sensations revealing oneness of contact of body with item under the body.
If supportive, experience the outgoing breath to enable a deepening of the experience.
The quiet regularity of the practice develops calm, clarity and expands pain horizons.
Be receptive to reflections and insights that might emerge during the practice.
