The Teachings of the Buddha focus on the naming of suffering and addressing of suffering.

In the history of warfare, there is no historical precedent of a restricted region or city enduring daily sustained bombing for two years as experienced in Gaza. This history includes World War 2 and the Vietnam war.

Evil – the deliberate determination to inflict suffering on another (s).

War Criminals – those who order others to inflict widespread suffering and those who follow the orders.

Israeli Citizens. Why does the world appeal to the many Israeli citizens, who continue to support the policy on Gaza, to wake up? The world’s respected international organisations, such as the UN and aid organisations, have reported in detail the terrible suffering the IDF inflict on their neighbours. The world calls upon Israeli citizens to protest what has been done in their name and in the name of democracy.

Successive US governments have provided nearly all the military armaments including planes, bombs, tanks, shells, weapons, drones, training and more to the Israeli government.

Germany and UK have provided military equipment and funding for the Israeli government. Israel has military factories in the UK to support the war crimes.

Several Israeli arms companies own and operate multiple manufacturing facilities within the United Kingdom. These sites produce military equipment and technology.

The Genocide

Total deaths in Gaza number 67,173 between 7 October 2023 - 23 October 2025.

More than 10,000 are missing. Many experienced a long, slow agonising death under the rubble.

The IDF has killed 20,179 children.

Israel military does not dispute the general figures of the dead and wounded in this report.

The Ongoing Suffering

The number of children in Gaza with amputations is the highest per capita of any country in the world.

Around 170,000 wounded including mass traumatic injuries, such as burns, bullets, shrapnel wounds, bombing and shelling of homes, camps, streets, schools, hospitals, mosques, private and public facilities.

The WHO report around 42,000 men, women and children have life changing injuries such as amputations, severe burns, spinal cord injuries, brain injuries and paralysis.

Trauma, depression, despair and thoughts/acts of self-harm have impacted the lives of citizens.

The genocide, starvation and famine in Gaza have brought about loss of children, loss of family, loss of friends, loss of home and loss of everyone and everything loved and treasured.

The few remaining journalists in Gaza, who have not been assassinated, have filmed and interviewed citizens who told them they feel dead inside and have nothing to live for.

Two million people have spent two years never knowing if they will survive the day or night, be buried under rubble or experience terrible pain from wounds.

They worry for their loved ones and for themselves.

The Destruction of Vital Infrastructure

22 hospitals in Gaza have been bombed, shelled with deaths injuries for hospital staff and patients along with forced evacuation of staff. 14 remaining hospitals only partially function.

Over 735 documented attacks on healthcare facilities affecting 125 buildings.

Healthcare staff have been targeted, detained and starved with hospitals and clinics incapable of providing essential services.

An estimated 670 schools while some experts estimate destruction runs into thousands of schools, including colleges and universities. All levels of education, have been bombed, shelled and attacked rendering them unusable.

UNICEF, UN and local authorities report families often used schools as shelters only to be bombed while in a shelter.

Children cannot attend school. They suffer with the loss of their friends, as well as siblings, one or both parents and other loved ones.

The number of mosques destroyed in Gaza since October 2023 is estimated to be around 835 or more completely destroyed, and hundreds more partially damaged. Bombing and shelling destroyed Gaza’s religious heritage with the destruction of historic, centuries old mosques.

The Means to Commit Genocide.

IDF has dropped an estimated 200,000 tonnes of explosives on Gaza in the past two years.

On 6 August 1945, the US President ordered an atomic bomb, equivalent to 15,000 tons of explosives, to be dropped on the city of Hiroshima. The IDF bombing of Gaza is roughly equivalent to dropping 13 atomic bombs on the small and restricted area called the Gaza Strip.

The IDF ground invasion of Gaza involved more than 100,000 soldiers and over 300 tanks. The government ordered the mobilization of 300,000 reservists with a total of more than 400,000 soldiers combing active personnel and reservists.

The Terror of Drones

Israeli forces have made extensive use of drones in Gaza employing them for surveillance, psychological intimidation, and direct attacks against civilians. Armed with firepower, these drones will hover in front of civilians, follow them in the streets or outside the windows of their home. Drone operators will send messages to bomb or shell a building if a suspicious person enters it.

Israeli forces use drones to drop grenades or small bombs on civilian populations and shelters, as well as hospitals, camps, humanitarian centres and targeted killing.

Drones are used to fly into people’s homes to arrest or intimidate a person or family. Drones are used in the streets to broadcast screaming women, crying children to get adults rushing outside so soldiers can arrest them for interrogation or killing.

Drones are used to order evacuation from areas, terrify citizens and force major population movement. Drones can assassinate those who flee from a forced march from one part of Gaza to another.

Advance Warning of a Bombing

Occasionally, people at home might get a 10-minute warning in a phone call from an Israeli army officer or flyer dropped from the sky to get out of targeted buildings. These messages send terror and panic into homes.

What do the parents do if one of the children is in another home, family members are injured/dying or an elderly person is bed bound? Perhaps none of them can make their way down flights of stairs.

Do the healthy ones stay with the person(s) hardly able to move? Do they abandon them? Do they try to get them down the stairs and far from the block of flats as possible, even though there is probably not enough time?

Starvation and Famine

Gaza experiences a catastrophic humanitarian crisis including starvation, malnutrition, disease, long injuries and long, painful deaths. More than half a million people—a quarter of Gaza’s population—are dealing with starvation, with all age groups affected, particularly children under 5 years of age.

Over 55,000 children under five are acutely malnourished, and hospitals are overwhelmed. As of early October 2025, at least 453 people, including 150 children, have died of starvation and malnutrition since the start of the war, with the toll continuing to rise as access to food, water, and health services breaks down. Men, women and children faint in the streets due to hunger and thirst bringing injuries upon themselves.

Soldiers engage in shoot to kill a random number of adults and children in the food queue. An English doctor told a TV reporter that the victims are often shot in the same part of the body one day and shot in another part of the body the next day. When panic sets in due to hunger, people grapple among each other in the food queues to try to get some food into a bowl to feed an entire family.

Israeli army will regularly only permit distribution of food in the middle of the night leaving every person to find their way to the location despite total absence of street or house lighting. Fortunate people receive daily handful of food per day and a little water owing to destruction of necessary infrasctucture for drinking water. Others go days without food and water. Photos and film footage reveal how gaunt the survivors are.

Social and Health System Collapse

The health system in Gaza is on the brink of total collapse, with 94% of hospitals damaged or destroyed and shortages of essential medicines at crisis levels. Mass displacement and destruction have forced most people in Gaza to live in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions, contributing to the spread of infectious diseases and malnutrition.

The scale and severity of famine in Gaza is unprecedented in recent decades, creating mass suffering and loss of life as a direct result of the policies of the Israeli government, the IDF, those who support the policies within Israel and foreign governments.

Killing of Journalists based in Gaza

More than 270 journalists have been killed in Gaza since October 7, 2023, making this the deadliest conflict for journalists in recorded history, surpassing the combined tolls of World War I and World War II. The majority of those killed are Palestinian journalists targeted or killed by Israeli military action.

United Nations and multiple press freedom organizations report that between 245 and 274 journalists have been killed in Gaza as of August 2025.

Sources such as the Costs of War Project, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), and Reporters Without Borders (RSF) agree that Gaza is the deadliest war zone for journalists ever documented, with more fatalities than any other conflict.

The total number of journalists killed during World War II is estimated at around 69, based on widespread research from press freedom organizations and historians.

Soldiers with Mobile Phones

Israeli soldiers in Gaza have frequently filmed and photographed themselves during the war, sharing content on platforms such as TikTok, Instagram, and Telegram. This material includes a wide range of imagery, from everyday routines to acts of destruction, mocking behavior, and documented abuses of detainees or Palestinian property.

Soldiers have posted clips showing the mistreatment of Palestinian prisoners, destruction of buildings, looting, and mocking scenes in homes and public spaces.

Soldiers have filmed detainees in humiliating positions, an act that legal experts argue may breach international humanitarian law.

Many of these photos and videos serve as potential evidence in war crimes investigations and have been compiled by NGOs and journalists.

NGOs, legal teams, and media investigations have used these online posts to document and pursue accountability for alleged abuses in Gaza.

The extensive sharing of such footage has created a significant record of the conflict, with soldiers expressing shock at being identified and investigated for war crimes.

Gaza and West Bank citizens held in Israeli prisons

Israeli government is set to release approximately 2,000 Palestinians as part of the current ceasefire deal with Hamas. This includes 250 Palestinian prisoners convicted or otherwise. Women and children are among those who will be released.

At least 75 Palestinian hostages have died in Israeli custody, in the past two years. The deaths reportedly related to torture, ill-treatment, severe neglect, and violent incidents.

Israeli government and Western media often refer to Palestinian hostages in Israel as detainees.

The winter brings extra hardships.
