A friend told me about Park Run; it was happening on New Year’s Day and in an enthusiastic moment I decided to do it, having reflected that the only time I run is when I’m crossing the road and the lights change.
I ran the entire way albeit not much faster than some people seemed to walk it (my time was slower than yours).
My legs were horrendously sore for about 4 days.
A month later I did a long retreat. As part of the process of coming out of the retreat we were encouraged to “speed up”.
So I did another 5k run. This time I stretched before and after and walked an additional 500m to cool down. No aching!
It feels good to do something completely new and different. Even if it hurts. 🏃
30-36 minutes for the jog, that’s pretty good!
