Dharma refers to any teachings and practices pointing directly to waking us up, to enlightening our life.
Teachings/practices give support to all, providing resources to transform our lives and our relationship to presence and absence.
The Buddha in the Thai Monastery in Sarnath, India, where he gave his first teachings.
To see the Dharma is to see the Buddha (know Awakening).
This meditation reminds us of the value of the Dharma to live a noble way of life, free from unhealthy conditioning.
Let us reflect on our commitment to the Dharma
Meditation on the Dharma
Nobody can enlighten my life
I cannot enlighten my life
A Buddha cannot enlighten my life
A Buddha can only point the way.
In the jungle of confused ideas
And troublesome mind states.
Dharma enlightens my life
Emerging from any direction
I bow before the Dharma
A servant of transcendence.
I practice the Dharma,
Via ethics and love,
No wish to harm,
Nor exploit
Others or myself
Or the Earth.
Uprooting selfish desire
Exploring inner voices
To remember that
To err is to be human
Errors show vulnerability
To explore misjudgments
Confirm acts of wisdom.
I pay respect to the Dharma
Through clear activities
Of body, speech and mind.
I practice dissolving differences
Notions of superior and inferior
Dharma and Buddha abide
Inseparable - like honey and sweetness.
I meditate on things
Of matter and mind
Of love and insights
Find ways to live wisely
A freedom of expression.
May the Dharma be my guide and refuge
May I stay true to liberating principles
May I remember to walk
Hand in hand with the Buddhas.
