A Walk in the Garden of Eden. A Poem

11 verses

Heavens open marking our walk 
friends on path of prominence 
a walk with another among 
wild, tamed, dwelling all around
this shared presence in such time.

We take respectful steps among
among elements - rain, wind, earth 
we walk, circles of ancient trees
a single word to celebrate 
amidst vibrancy of it all.

A fresh aroma of flowers 
while chilly wind slaps our face 
to turn our close world inside out 
no need to see such motion 
a brolly adjusts to season.

Wind-rain wanders in fields
wonder of wet-soaked form 
touching base of eyes, ears
of matter, seen, heard, smelt
no tasks, a time of being. 

What do creatures, flowers, trees 
tell our single mode of being?
a voice hears in tall treetop
a soliloquy? Regardless 
silence lands to wake up sounds

Unimportant rustling in the
density of dark green bushes?
take note of the insignificance
that plays gently on a thought
where precious secrets reveal.

Ah, rain, rain – tears of Gods
to nourish all that lives
rain falls at speed, gathers
momentum to check our
joy. Are we prone to shelter?

I never imagined I would
cross paths with Shakespeare
‘what’s done cannot be undone’
what’s walked cannot be unwalked
what moves shows an intimacy.

Those red berries with 
their sweet coat wrapped round 
poisonous seeds. That speak
to all of us, let's note the
mischief of appearances.

I feel I should go down on my
bended knee to thank plantation
of prosperity in this court
of intimations and insights
while muddied earth holds sway.

Mindful walking with loving ways
friendship for creatures on the earth
in the ground, floating in the sky
wandering through plants and trees 
who travel beyond the locked gate.

Ah. A walk in the Garden of Eden.
