Thank you to each and everyone of my 7500 subscribers. This month marks a year since the Substack posts got underway.
You have inspired me to sustain regular posts. Some of your comments have triggered a fresh area of interest/reflection/meditation and finally writing a post.
I bumped into a friend from Oregon in a Totnes coffee shop yesterday. He kindly mentioned to me my diversity of themes and proliferation of posts. I commented on the proverb “Jack of all trades….” Those for whom English is the first language, you will know the remainder of the 17th century saying – “master of none.”
By the way, I prefer the original, “A jack of all trades is a master of none but oftentimes better than a master of one.” It means a person is versatile rather than a specialist.
I comment on personal/social/political and global issues. You will also have seen exploration and critiques on mindfulness, daily life practices, diet, depths of meditation, spirituality, science, book/rock music reviews, poems, and ultimate realisations.

During the year, I made Substack the first port of call for dates of upcoming teaching programmes. Through Substack, I joined the network of writers, artists and others who use the platform. Based in San Francisco, Substack allows writers to send digital newsletters directly to subscribers.
Subscribers receive the posts through free subscription or by offering a monthly subscription starting off at $7.00 per month or $70.00 per year.
I continue to use WordPress for those linked to this platform. WordPress has kindly hosted more than 1000 blogs between 2006 and 2023 with just over one million views in this period. Between 2018 and 2023, numbers of views have totalled around 500,000. The lockdown contributed to the increase in views!
Jude, my IT consultant, who advised me to use Substack, copied my WordPress blogs to Substack. A thank you to Jude for recommending Substack.
We sometimes hear from the spiritual/meditation experts that we must go beyond thought/communication and language.
No, we don’t have to go beyond words. A few words can change a life.
Don’t forget.
Thank you Christopher for all you do! Congratulations on this important milestone. And hello from Tokyo!
